Longtime business journalist Dave Kansas has been named the chief operating officer of American Public Media, which operates public radio stations throughout the country as well as the “Marketplace” radio show.
Stephanie Hemphill of Minnesota Public Radio writes, “David Kansas, a veteran at the Wall Street Journal and a digital startup pioneer, will succeed Jon McTaggart, who replaced Bill Kling as CEO earlier this month.
“McTaggart praised Kansas’ experience as a journalist and administrator — especially his pioneering work in digital media. Kansas was on the founding team of TheStreet.com.
“Kansas has held a variety of positions with Dow Jones & Company and The Wall Street Journal, including reporter, online deputy managing editor, European markets editor and chief markets commentator.
“MPR says a national search attracted more than 100 candidates. Kansas is a native of St. Paul.”
