John Bussey, the Wall Street Journal‘s Washington bureau chief, made the following announcement on Wednesday morning:
“I’m pleased to announce that Janet Hook will join the Washington bureau to cover Congress. Janet has spent the last 15 years covering Congress, national politics and election campaigns for the Los Angeles Times. She was a reporter for Congressional Quarterly Weekly Report from 1983 to 1995, a reporter for the Chronicle of Higher Education from 1979 to 1983, and assistant editor of The Public Interest Magazine from 1978 to 1979.
“Janet has received several journalism awards for her politics coverage, including the Everett Dirksen Award for distinguished reporting on Congress, and was a John S. Knight Fellow at Stanford University.
“Janet graduated from Harvard University in 1977 with a B.A. in philosophy and government and studied at the London School of Economics from 1977 to 1978.
“Please join me in welcoming Janet to the Journal. She’ll start Sept. 20.”
