The Hampton Roads Daily Press said in Friday’s paper that it was cutting its stock listings, moving the business section during the week to the back of the sports section and eliminating its Monday business section altogether.
An editor’s note stated, “At the same time, we will add emphasis to the depth of our unique local business report by moving the business pages to a place where we can use color every day – the back of the Sports section. That will be a detour for readers for a while, but we think the added color will help us show and tell local business stories better and help readers find them, too.
“This move to the back of Sports will apply Tuesdays through Saturdays. As it has for many years, business gets its own section on Sundays.
“However, recognizing that business news slows down over the weekend, we’re eliminating our business pages altogether on Mondays. Much of the helpful computer and technology information from our Monday business pages will move into the Life section on various days of the week. Of course, when business news does break over the weekend, we’ll still report it – but we’ll put it in the front or local news sections.”
