As often happens in business journalism, when one person leaves one media outlet for a new job at another media outlet, it creates a domino effect for others in the business.
Last week, Jeffrey McCracken, a reporter at The Wall Street Journal who covers mergers and acquisitions, was hired away by Bloomberg News.
Now comes word that Anupreeta Das, who covers mergers and acquisitions for Reuters, has been hired by The Journal, ostensibly to cover the same beat that McCracken oversaw.
Das has been with Reuters since February 2007, covering deals in the technology, media and telecommunications sectors. She also reports on broad technology, Internet and digital media trends. She also freelanced for the Boston Globe and the Christian Science Monitor.
Meanwhile, Bloomberg is looking for a replacement for Erik Holm, who quit on Friday to take a job at Dow Jones Newswires covering insurance. Holm had been with Bloomberg since July 2006. Before that, he was a reporter for Newsday for five years and nine months.
Holm had covered Berkshire Hathaway, and he had overseen coverage of American International Group’s bailout by the federal government.
