The Guardian has appointed John Collingridge as its new business editor.

In his new role, Collingridge succeeds Julia Finch, who served as the Guardian’s head of business for more than 10 years. She also held other roles, including reporter, editor, head of department and duty editor.

Collingridge was also with The Sunday Times for more than 7 years, joining as an industry correspondent/business reporter. He was then promoted to the post of deputy business editor. Before that, he was a city reporter at The Press Association.

He has also worked as a city reporter at Yorkshire Post and was a business trainee reporter at Hull Daily Mail.

Also, he received the George Viner Memorial Fund scholarship, set up by the National Union of Journalists to broaden the diversity of journalists working in the media.

Collingridge has a degree in English literature and a postgraduate diploma in newspaper journalism from Cardiff University.
