Jonathan Wald, the senior vice president of CNBC who is responsible for all business news programming, will be leaving the network at the end of March, according to an internal announcement from CNBC president Mark Hoffman.
“Jonathan has made substantial contributions to the network over the last three years and been an important part of the successes we’ve seen over that time.  Unfortunately, we could not come to terms on a new agreement and have made the decision together that the best solution is to part company at this time.
Jonathan will continue in his position until the end of the quarter and will work closely with me and the management team on the transition in business news and will let you all know his plans when he can.
“We’re working hard to fill the position and I’ll share more details in the coming weeks.
“There is plenty of time to plan the appropriate send off, but I know you all join me in wishing Jonathan well in whatever he does next.”
Wald is a former executive producer of Today and NBC Nightly News With Tom Brokaw. A three-time Emmy award winner and recipient of the Edward R. Murrow Award for “Best Newscast”, he has worked in television news for over two decades.
Wald joined CNBC in 2004 in Primetime strategy and program development. In August 2005 Wald launched a series of special reports — Hurricane Katrina: Crisis and Recovery, and two months later created “On The Money,” CNBC’s signature 7 p.m. program.
Under Wald’s leadership, CNBC won its first-ever Emmy Awards for Business & Financial Reporting in 2007 for the network’s two-hour original documentary, “Big Brother, Big Business,” and CNBC’s monthly primetime business news magazine, “Business Nation.”Â
In addition, CNBC’s “Business Nation” also won an Emmy Award for Business & Financial Reporting for outstanding coverage of a current business news story in 2008 and CNBC’s one-hour special “Greenspan: Power, Money & The American Dream” was recognized with a Gracie Allen Award for oustanding documentary in 2008.
