Sacramento Bee business news columnist Bob Shallit plans to retire at the end of April and will be replaced by Cathie Anderson, the paper’s former business editor.
A story on the Bee website states, “With news of his retirement leaking outside The Bee newsroom in recent days, Shallit said Thursday that he will address his retirement in his next column, on Saturday.
“Shallit has worked for The Bee for nearly 30 years, including serving as a business reporter and business editor.
“Joyce Terhaar, executive editor for The Bee, announced that Features Editor Cathie Anderson will be taking over the column for Shallit. Anderson, who joined The Bee in 2002 as business editor, will write her first column on May 1.
“‘We’re happy for Bob and we’ll miss him,’ Terhaar said Thursday. ‘He’s had a huge impact at The Bee. But we are also excited that Cathie will be taking over the column. When she was business editor she was able to make a lot of contacts in the business community. For the last several years as features editor, she’s seen a different side of the region. We’re looking forward to how she takes on this new challenge and uses the column to keep readers informed and entertained about our region.'”
