SABEW Canada announces Best in Business finalists

April 5, 2016

Posted by Chris Roush

SABEW CanadaThe Society of American Business Editors and Writers Canada announced Tuesday the list of nominees for its second Canadian Best in Business competition, which recognizes outstanding business reporting published or broadcast in 2015.

This year’s contest had a record number of entries, and publications from across Canada submitted their work. Journalists from places such as the Montreal Gazette, Ottawa Citizen, Alberta Oil and Advisor.ca entered the Best in Business contest for the first time this year.

The nominated works reflect a diverse set of issues particular to Canadian business — from budget coverage and Bombardier news to Ashley Madison and real estate opportunities.

“We were excited to see the contest expand this year with more entries from more places,” added Bryan Borzykowski, chair of SABEW Canada and a member of SABEW’s board of governors, in a statement. “With no other contest like it in Canada, Best in Business is only going to grow from here.”

There are a total of 30 finalists in 10 categories, selected from more than 100 applicants from publications across the country. Categories include investigative, commentary, breaking news, investing and personal finance, features, multimedia, beat reporting, package and profile.

The winners will be announced at the Best In Business awards reception on April 20 at Valdez in Toronto.
