Gregory Gilligan has been named the new business editor at the Richmond Times-Dispatch, replacing John Hoke, who is taking over the new watchdog team.
The changes are effective Sept. 1.
John Reid Blackwell of the Times-Dispatch writes, “The watchdog news team led by Hoke will cover Richmond-area localities, police and courts.
“Hoke, 57, has worked for The Times-Dispatch for 29 years as a reporter and an editor. A native of Williamsburg, he graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has served as business news editor since August 2008.
“Gilligan, 48, has served as deputy business editor since January 2007. He has worked for the Times-Dispatch since 1987 as a reporter and editor. He joined the business desk in 1993 covering the retail industry, and he wrote the weekly Biz Buzz column for 15 years until June 2008. A native of Columbus, Ohio, Gilligan graduated from Ohio State University.”
