The Richmond Times-Dispatch is cutting its standalone business section during the week amid layoffs that included its deputy business editor, reports Mark Robinson of Richmond magazine.
Deputy business editor Greg Shriver was among 33 cut from the newspaper.
He had joined the paper a year ago. Shriver was previously the assistant managing editor at The Winchester Star in Virginia since 2010, where he oversaw the nightside operation at the 20,000-circulation daily, directing the front page designer, chief copy editor, other copy editors and reporters.
According to Robinson’s story, the paper is eliminating the daily business section that is published Tuesday through Saturday. Instead, business news will be published in the newspaper’s front two sections. The Sunday business section and Monday Metro business sections will remain intact.
