Rachel Witkowski, who has been covering mortgages and housing for Bankrate.com, is returning to her former employer American Banker.

She starts Jan. 31

In a note to the staff, American Banker editor Rob Blackwell wrote:

I’m thrilled to announce that Rachel Witkowski is rejoining the American Banker’s Washington Bureau covering OCC, FDIC, fintech regulation and anti-money laundering. As many of you know, Rachel previously covered the CFPB, OCC and community banking for us for several years, but left to join the Wall Street Journal, where she covered fintech, among other issues.

Witkowski joined Bankrate in September 2017. Before that, she reported on bank regulation and financial technology at The Wall Street Journal since February 2016. Prior to that, she worked at American Banker for more than five years covering community banks and the federal regulatory agencies, including the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

Rachel graduated from the University of North Florida with a double major in print and broadcast journalism.
