Dawn Bryant, who had spent the past seven years covering business and tourism for The Myrtle Beach Sun News, has been named the paper’s business editor.
She replaces Garrison Wells, who left to go be the managing editor of the Nashville Business Journal.
A short item in Sunday’s paper stated, “She has been at the forefront of reporting on the area’s biggest stories, including the S.C. boycott by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, the uniform school start date debate and the failed efforts of a California developer and the Downtown Redevelopment Corp. to develop a plan for the Myrtle Beach Pavilion Amusement Park site.
“Since joining the staff in 2000, her coverage has consistently earned honors from the S.C. Press Association, including five awards for business reporting and another for her tourism reporting.
“‘I look forward to taking the newspaper’s already solid business coverage and making it even better,’ Bryant said. ‘The business community is such a vital part of the Grand Strand, and we aim to reflect that in our news pages by giving readers breaking news, trend stories and profiles of the area’s leaders.'”
