Andrea James of the online Seattle Post-Intelligencer writes Friday about the lack of media attention given the Microsoft CEO Summit because the media wasn’t invited.
James writes, “The event was news in itself even though no news was announced. They discussed the convergence of technology, business issues, economic trends and making the world a better place. The exact agenda was private.
“The event was closed to the media, though Tom Brokaw and Time Magazine’s Rick Stengel attended as panel moderators. Their elite attendance will not generate media coverage. Should the press have been invited?
“I can understand that Microsoft might not want reporters running around pestering the CEOs with their cameras and notebooks, asking annoying questions about taxpayer bailouts and rising unemployment.
“So, for argument’s sake, forget about the press. What about the public?”
