Juggling writing books and business reporter

Joe Meyers of the Connecticut Post interviewed Fox Business Network‘s Charles Gasparino about how he writes books about Wall Street and continues to report breaking news stories.

Meyers writes, “In a quite amazing display of juggling, the journalist managed to fit the writing of a definitive book about the near collapse of the global financial system — ‘The Sellout’ (Harper Business) — into his hectic TV and column-writing schedule.

“And unlike some of the other new volumes in the business section of your local bookstore, ‘The Sellout’ is not a quick hit account of what went wrong two years ago.

“Instead, Gasparino takes the reader back three decades to show how the increasing acceptance — and encouragement — of risk on Wall Street set the stage for a series of escalating crises. The resulting 499-page book reads like an especially lucid and dramatic financial thriller.

“In an interview before the Greenwich dinner, Gasparino said it wasn’t easy to boil down 30 years of Wall Street blunders into a book that the average person could read.”
