Jacksonville Business Journal publisher to retire

David Sillick

Jacksonville Business Journal publisher David Sillick will retire from the publication effective June 1, according to a story on its website.

Editor Timothy Gibbons writes, “Sillick, who lead the JBJ for nearly 20 years, has a long history with American City Business Journals, the JBJ’s parent company. He joined the Triangle Business Journal as an advertising sales representative in 1988 before moving to the Washington Business Journal as advertising director in July 1995.

“He was promoted to publisher in Jacksonville in October 1997.

“‘David’s contributions to the growth of ACBJ and the Jacksonville business community are exemplary,’ said CEO Whitney Shaw. ‘I know I speak for everyone in our company in thanking him for those contributions.’

“Shaw and Executive Vice President Mike Olivieri will begin searching for Sillick’s replacement immediately.”
