Jacksonville Biz Journal names new editor

Timothy Gibbons, the managing editor of the Jacksonville Business Journal, has been promoted to editor of the American City Business Journals paper.

A story on its website states, “Before serving as managing editor — a position he took over in July 2013 — Gibbons held several reporting and editing positions at the Florida Times-Union over an 11-year span.

“Before moving to Jacksonville, Gibbons’ career took him around the country and overseas, from Texas to Germany and New York to Daytona Beach. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Liberty University and a Master of Science degree in journalism from Columbia University.

“’Clearly, through his education and work experience, Timothy is well equipped and prepared for this opportunity to make a big impact by producing exciting, quality content and leading a high-performing newsroom,’ Sillick said. ‘As we thoroughly vetted candidates, both internally and externally, it became quite clear Timothy was the most credentialed, experienced and talented choice.'”
