International Business Times hires personal finance editor

Lauren Lyons ColeInternational Business Times announced Monday that Lauren Lyons Cole has joined the editorial team as personal finance editor.

She will work out of its New York office.

Lyons Cole will contribute coverage on a range of financial questions confronting ordinary people including best strategies for saving for retirement and college; the pitfalls and opportunities of mutual funds and other investment vehicles; the ins and outs of planning for health care expenditures, financing home purchases and other such concerns, all with special attention paid to the needs and challenges of younger readers.

“Lauren brings a deep grasp of finance and markets along with real sensitivity to the everyday problems navigated by regular people seeking to manage their money, seize opportunities and avoid pitfalls,” said global editor-in-chief Peter S. Goodman. “She will improve the fortunes of our readership, while expanding the reach of our journalism.”

Before joining International Business Times, Lyons Cole was a personal finance contributor for TheStreet.com. Her financial planning career began at a Manhattan-based wealth management firm, which she later left to create her own firm. As a financial expert and educator, Lyons Cole has appeared at conferences, corporate events and universities.
