Insider promotes four staff members

Insider has promoted for staffers to new roles:

Joe Ciolli now holds the post of deputy executive editor, business. He will continue his current role overseeing markets and investing coverage.

Previously, Ciolli has served as a senior markets reporter and as a senior investing editor.

He has also worked at Bloomberg as a FX reporter and then as a stocks reporter. He also blogged about Silicon Valley covering start-ups, entrepreneurship and venture capital at All Things Digital.

Ciolli has also worked at BackTrack Reports, Navigant Capital Advisors and CIBC World Markets.

Ciolli is a M.A. in journalism from Stanford University.

Nick Lichtenberg now holds the post of deputy editor, economy. Previously, he was senior editor, economy.

Lichtenberg has served as a senior editor at Business Insider and was a breaking news editor at Bloomberg. He was also deputy managing editor, U.S. Credit at Reorg Research, Inc.

He also served as global head content editor, Equities at Mergermarket and was a content editor at FT. He also held editorial posts at ALM and Vault.com.

Lichtenberg graduated from Syracuse University.

On the small business team, Emily Canal has been promoted to small business editor. Previously, she was a senior reporter at the company.

She teaches at New York University and was a staff writer and reporter at Inc. Magazine. She was also a reporter and homepage editor at Forbes Magazine and a reporter at The Daily.

She has also interned at the New York Times, New York Observer, The Washington Post, Cape Cod Times and Mass High Tech.

She has also worked at NBC, Politico, The Boston Globe and York Weekly Newspaper.

Canal is a B.S. in print and multimedia journalism from Emerson College and holds a master’s degree from New York University.

Lastly, Akin Oyedele has been promoted to senior editor, investing. Previously, he has served as a markets reporter, senior reporter, correspondent and most recently as editor.

He has also interned at Bloomberg and was a news editor at Voice of Wits.

Oyedele holds a master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University.
