Kali Hays has been hired by Insider to cover social media.
She will be based in Los Angeles and will start in early September.
At Women’s Wear Daily, she covered media, fashion, beauty and related industries before leaving earlier this year. She joined WWD in February 2017 and initially covered finance, business, legal and media news relevant for the broader fashion, retail and beauty industries.
Before WWD, Hays was a reporter at Law360. She also worked at Prospect News, reporting and writing for a daily newsletter covering distressed debt and bankruptcy in the U.S. and international markets.
Hays is part of Insider’s growing Big Tech news team, which covers the world’s most powerful companies, entrepreneurs and technologies.
“I’m excited to welcome a reporter with such talent and experience,” said Alistair Barr, deputy technology editor at Insider. “We will continue to recruit top journalists to cover beats including Asia tech, e-commerce marketplaces, and Apple and its developer and hardware ecosystems.”
