When I Grow UpThe Newnan Times-Herald in Georgia is starting a new feature in its business section called “When I Grow Up.

The idea is the brainchild of business reporter Kandice Bell and will feature photos and explanations of what jobs local kids want to have when they are adults. It will start Jan. 10 and run once every two weeks.

“I came up with the idea because I wanted a way to engage readers with the business section of the paper more and I wanted to do something different with the paper,” said Bell in an email to Talking Biz News. “The column will be about 10-15 inches.  I wanted to give our youth a way to get their ideas out there.”

Bell is a native of Newnan, and attended East Coweta High School and graduated from Georgia State University with a bachelors of arts degree in journalism. Bell also holds a master’s degree in business from the University of Phoenix.

Bell wrote for the Georgia State University school newspaper “The Signal” and also worked at the school radio station 88.5 fm. She has also did freelance writing for the The Patch in Gwinnett County.
