Riley Wilson, the former business editor for the Tulsa World, died Monday at the age of 78 from prostate cancer, according to a story in Tuesday’s paper.
The story stated, “His battles with the industry public relations people were legendary at the World. Wilson bristled at nothing more than being scooped by the old Tulsa Tribune or any other publication.
“If news leaked to another newspaper or magazine, Wilson was quickly on the phone to the guilty company. Reporters would gather near Wilson’s department just to hear him chew out the offending party.
“‘My personal philosophy of news coverage is simple: Get the facts and report them to the public. Tell all sides and let the readers decide,’ Wilson once said.”
