Keith Kelly of the New York Post reports that former BusinessWeek columnist Gene Marcial, who wrote a weekly column about Wall Street but was laid off when the magazine was acquired by Bloomberg LP, has found a new job writing for DailyFinance.com.
Marcial had written his column for BusinessWeek since 1981. Before that, he worked at The Wall Street Journal, where he wrote the “Heard on the Street” column.
“‘A lot of people are taking a few months off, but I can’t do that,’ Marcial told Media Ink. ‘I’ll be posting as often as I can, probably three columns a week.'”

In his new column, Marcial writes, “Though relocated, the column will maintain its particular purpose: to be an ‘equal opportunity’ service that gives the small guy — the individual investor — a fair shake.
“Inside Wall Street aims to fill individuals in with the tightly guarded information that only big investors and institutional houses normally get. Inside Wall Street tries to balance such a lopsided situation by reporting on the moves big investors are making based mostly on the information they get by virtue of their huge investing power.
“Through the column, ordinary investors glean insights into situations and happenings on Wall Street and inside boardrooms that normally only the major investment houses or corporate insiders are privy to. Of course, these big-money players and corporate insiders will always have the edge in the world of investing, but Inside Wall Street can help chip away that edge.”

So far Marcial's commentary with the new paper has held its own and been relatively similar to his previous writing.
