John Sinclair Foley, EMEA editor for Reuters Breakingviews, sent out the following staff hire announcement on Tuesday:
Andy Critchlow has joined the Breakingviews team in London this week. Andy comes most recently from the Telegraph, and with fifteen years of experience writing on commodities, finance and the Middle East, will help us to comprehensively knock our esteemed rivals into a cocked hat.
Andy has worked in Dubai and Australia, opinionated for Heard on the Street, served in the UK armed forces and represented Britain at road racing. From now on he can be found on the 4th floor of South Colonnade, probably discussing Brompton bikes with our other cycle-obsessive columnist, Olaf.
Please join me in welcoming Andy on board.
Critchlow was previously Australia bureau chief for the Wall Street Journal and Middle East managing editor of Dow Jones Newswires in Dubai, where he expanded coverage in Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi and Qatar. In addition, Critchlow directed ground-breaking reporting of corporate corruption that won his team a William R. Clabby Award in 2009.
He worked for 3 years with Bloomberg as the news agency’s Gulf OPEC correspondent and deputy Dubai bureau chief.
