Dow Jones launches program to develop women leaders
Mark Musgrave, the chief people officer at Dow Jones & Co., sent out the following to the staff on Thursday:
I am pleased to share that we are launching the application process for IGNITE, our new leadership development initiative dedicated towards accelerating the executive leadership skills of 25 trailblazing, high-performing women across Dow Jones.
As Will recently made clear in this week’s One Thing, IGNITE is one of multiple diversity and leadership initiatives we will be launching to ensure we are building the strongest leaders – with the diverse skills and perspectives necessary to propel our organization forward. We are committed to supporting the next bench of senior female leaders as our first area of focus and will offer additional targeted development programs in the near future.
The goal of the IGNITE program is to increase connectivity, sponsorship and visibility for top female leaders, to ensure they are getting the resources and support from all levels of leadership to grow into bigger and more impactful roles.
IGNITE will be a full-year immersive program featuring multiple in-person and virtual experiences throughout. It will launch February 5th, 2018 in the New York office, with a week of keynote speakers, intensive workshops, roundtable discussions and coaching. Throughout the year, there will be regular global experiences in addition to Dow Jones executives sponsorship.
Examples of executive sponsorship include hands-on exposure through job shadowing, as well as sponsorship support in special projects and stretch assignments.
