Dow Jones AME to lead training effort

Michelle LaRoche, an assistant managing editor in charge of Dow Jones News Service’s spot news desk, is becoming the wire’s new editor for training and recruiting, according to a memo from Rick Stine, senior editor of Americas.

Dow Jones NewswiresShe is being replaced as AME for the spot news desk by Ben Siegel, who had been an assistant news editor.

Stine’s memo stated, “In her new position as Editor – Training and Recruiting, Michelle will develop and implement important programs designed to help new employees from the moment they walk through door as well as offer ongoing training for more seasoned employees. In addition, she will spearhead our efforts to recruit some of the top talent in our business.

“Michelle begins her new job on March 24. She will report to me.

“Since August 2004, Michelle has been assistant managing editor in charge of the spot news desk of the Dow Jones News Service. Michelle has helped us successfully launch some very important projects while heading the desk. After Dow Jones bought MarketWatch in early 2005, Michelle played a key role in finding ways for the two news organizations to share copy in a smart, efficient way. Michelle has worked closely with our product and technology colleagues to launch the important corporate algo product.”
