Dolan Co., which owns business newspapers across the country, has promoted Christopher A. Eddings to vice president in charge of its division that operates the newspapers.
Eddings, 63, has been director of publishing operations since 2010. His new position puts him in charge of the company’s 19 local publishing operations as well as such national companies as DataStream and Federal News Service.
“Chris has been an outstanding leader and manager with us for many years, and he is just the kind of executive we need as we face today’s business challenges,” said Dolan Co. CEO Jim Dolan, who made the announcement. The promotion is effective immediately.
Dolan said that under Eddings’ leadership the division already is pursuing a number of growth projects in electronic media. They are intended to solidify the company’s very strong market positions across the country, he said.
Eddings joined The Dolan Co. in 1997 as president and publisher of its Daily Record operation in Baltimore. He was promoted to group publisher in charge of all Dolan law publications in 2003.
Previously he ran a group of 11 newspapers in three East Coast states, was publisher of newspaper groups in Texas and New England, and was the first post-war civilian general manager of the European operation of Stars and Stripes military newspaper.
Dolan owns the Long Island Business News, the Idaho Business Review and the Daily Journal of Commerce in Portland, Ore., among others.
