Alan Derringer, the autos editor and deputy business editor at The Detroit News, is retiring.
He has been at the paper since 2003.
Derringer has been directing coverage of the autos industry for the last decade. Derringer previously was a features writer and features and entertainment editor at the Fort Wayne (Ind.) News-Sentinel.
His immediate plan after surviving 40 years of daily newspapering is to fly-fish the bonefish flats in Key West, Florida.
