Danielle Abril has been hired as managing editor of D CEO magazine in Dallas.
She replaces Hilary Lau, who left to join a marketing agency called Ansira.
As managing editor, Abril will oversee deadlines and maintain the quality standards of the publication. She also is charged with managing story pitches, web news, social media strategy, and leading coverage within the Dallas-Fort Worth tech and startup communities.
Abril previously served as the the technology reporter for the Dallas Business Journal. During her three years there, she launched TechFlash, a daily online newsletter that covered technology and startup stories across Dallas-Fort Worth.
She wrote breaking news and features on Dallas-Fort Worth-based companies such as AT&T, Ericsson North America, Texas Instruments as well as startups and their advocates. Prior to that, she served as the retail and hospitality reporter, covering businesses including J.C. Penney, Radio Shack and Neiman Marcus.
Before joining the Business Journal, Abril spent three years at The Dallas Morning News, reporting for metro and neighbors sections of the paper. There, she focused coverage on cities across Collin County.
She began her journalism career in 2008 at Business News Group, which produces niche publications in Dallas-Fort Worth.
