BusinessWeek.com named Sarah Lacy as technology columnist, according to a release on Tuesday. She will be contributing two monthly columns on technology and culture called “Valley Girl.”
Based in San Francisco, Lacy has been a business reporter for the past 10 years, covering startups and venture capital in Silicon Valley. Most recently she was a reporter for BusinessWeek, where she co-wrote the “Valley Boys” cover story, featuring Digg’s Kevin Rose. She has spent the last year writing a book for Penguin Publishing on the new generation of Internet moguls and the rise of Web 2.0.
“It is a pleasure to welcome Sarah and her passion for technology back to BusinessWeek.com as we continue to expand our Internet and technology coverage online,” said Tom Giles, editor of technology and science for BusinessWeek.com. “She has a true expertise and keen eye on Silicon Valley.”
Prior to joining BusinessWeek.com, Lacy served as a technology reporter at the San Jose/Silicon Valley Business Journal covering venture capital and startups. Lacy attended the Rhodes College in Memphis, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in English literature.
