BusinessWeek announced that columnists Jack and Suzy Welch will do a weekly podcast about their column, “The Welch Way.” This is the first venture into this type of digital technology for the legendary former CEO of General Electric and his wife Suzy, former editor of the Harvard Business Review.
Their first 12-minute podcast focuses on Wal-Mart, the subject of the couple’s column in the May 1, issue. In the broadcast Jack gives a passionate defense of the embattled company and admonishes its critics by saying, “We can’t let them turn Wal-Mart into the next General Motors.” Other highlights include discussion of the couple’s visit with employees of a Wal-Mart store, and Suzy’s tale of buying a lamp at Wal-Mart for her daughter. The most expensive lamp she could find: $9.99.
In the next podcast, posted today, Jack and Suzy will discuss their most recent column, “How Healthy is Your Company?”
