The Information reporter Tom Dotan has been hired by Insider to cover the gig economy.
He will report on Uber, DoorDash, Instacart and all the ways tech is changing the way we work.
Dotan joined The Information in 2014.
He spent the last two years covering tech for the Los Angeles Business Journal. While there he broke stories about the struggles of online video, the movie industry’s tense relationship with tech (particularly the talent agencies) and the rise and fall of subscription e-commerce.
Prior to the Business Journal he worked as a freelance political reporter, publishing pieces in the Guardian, Marketplace, KCET and the Sacramento Bee.
Originally from Northern California, he obtained a master’s degree in online journalism from USC’s Annenberg School of Journalism.
