Business Insider hires Bloomberg’s Ciolli

Joseph Ciolli, a markets reporter for Bloomberg News, has been hired by Business Insider to be a senior markets reporter.

Matt Turner, deputy executive editor of Business Insider, sent out an email on Monday. He wrote:

Joe Ciolli is joining the markets team from Bloomberg as a senior reporter. You may have seen him on TV warring BI alum Joe Weisenthal with a chart, or have seen some of his smart stories on the stock market. He’ll be joining in mid-April, and we’re very happy to have him.

Ciolli has been on the markets team at Bloomberg since June 2011. He wrote daily stories on equities and did enterprise reporting on options, ETFs, market structure and academic research.

Ciolli also did live-blogging for Bloomberg TOPLive and made appearances on Bloomberg’s television and radio platforms. He also spent time as a foreign exchange reporter writing daily stories analyzing G-10 and emerging market currencies.

Ciolli also spent eight months writing for All Things Digital, the Wall Street Journal’s tech news operation. He has a bachelor’s degree from Washington University in St. Louis and a master’s in journalism from Stanford University.
