Bloomberg journalists to "learn" how to use Facebook

TALKING BIZ NEWS EXCLUSIVE

Journalists who work at Bloomberg News have been invited to a 30-minute training session on Friday afternoon to learn how to use Facebook for their jobs.

An invitation sent out the staff on Monday afternoon from Dan Fletcher, Bloomberg’s social media director, stated, “On Friday I’ll be hosting Vadim Lavrusik, who is the Journalist Program Manager for Facebook. Vadim is a journalist who has managed social media for the New York Times and written for Mashable. Facebook recently hired him to lead their effort to get more journalists using Facebook professionally.

“He’ll give a short presentation on some ways news organizations and journalists make use of Facebook now, followed by an open discussion on ways Facebook may be useful for us at Bloomberg.”

But wait, there’s more. Fletcher also tells the staff that they will be learning how to use Twitter. Bloomberg editor in chief Matt Winkler recently started using Twitter.

Fletcher writes, “I’ll also be on hand to answer any questions on our social media policy or social media in general. We’ll also have a few Twitter-centric trainings hosted in New York in the coming weeks – be on the lookout for that.”
