Insider Inc. co-founder and CEO Henry Blodget sent out the following to the staff on Thursday:

Hello, everyone! Some exciting (but not surprising) news:

As the Wall Street JournalVoxAxios, and other fine publications have reported — and as I discussed on our call last week — Insider Inc. is acquiring a majority stake in Morning Brew, the publisher of the super-popular daily business email for young professionals.

(If you don’t already receive “Morning Brew” and want to, please sign up here.)

Morning Brew co-founders Alex Lieberman and Austin Rief and their team will continue to run the company, which will remain a stand-alone business within the Insider family. They’ll also continue to produce Morning Brew’s publications and podcasts.

Like Business Insider, Morning Brew offers business news in a convenient format people love.

Alex and Austin started the company in their dorm rooms at the University of Michigan in 2015. They began producing a smart, fun email that made business news more relevant and interesting for their friends. When friends of friends saw the email, they wanted it, too. Now, more than 2.5 million people receive Morning Brew emails every day.

Morning Brew shares Insider’s mission: To inform and inspire the digital generation. In addition to its flagship email, Morning Brew also publishes a popular podcast series, “Business Casual,” and specialized emails covering the retail, tech, and marketing sectors.

Morning Brew will remain a stand-alone company, with a separate Board of Directors. We are not planning to integrate the companies, products, or services. We will cooperate on some corporate functions (such as finance and legal) to avoid duplicated efforts. We will not eliminate any jobs. We look forward to learning from each other and perhaps cooperating on products, services, and distribution in the future. (Answers to other questions you might have below.)

A big thank-you to Claudius Senst, Robin Chan, Matt Turner, Steve Lagnado, Mike Kingfield, Lars Kahl, Max von Richtofen, Mario Ruiz, Jorg Keller, Andreas Noth, Marcus Wandrey, Jan Bayer, Matthias Döpfner, Julian Deutz, and many others on our team and Axel Springer’s team who helped make this happen.

And a big welcome to Alex, Austin, and the Morning Brew team!

Henry
