Russell Grantham, a business reporter at The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, has left the paper.
His last day was last week. He most recently had been covering the Equifax hacking scandal.
“After almost 18 years at the AJC, I was dismissed over supposed performance issues,” said Grantham in an email to Talking Biz News. “I think I and many of my colleagues would say they were questionable. The fact is the paper has been aggressively shedding senior staff for several years, and hiring new employees 20-30 years younger in the last few years.”
Grantham had been covering banking, taxes and the Georgia economy for the paper since 2000. He also covered major companies, CEOs and public utilities in metro Atlanta.
Before joining the Atlanta daily, Grantham worked at the Memphis Commercial Appeal as a business reporter for two years.
He’s a University of Michigan graduate.
