The Asian edition of Barron’s will launch on Oct. 15, according to a website that went live.

In addition, Barron’s Asia will offer an iPad/iPhone application and an Android smartphone/tablet app. Barron’s Asia will not be available in print.

Barron’s Asia will be available for free for a limited time beginning Oct. 15. During this time, readers in Asia will have complimentary access to the U.S. edition of Barron’s as well. Beginning Jan. 15, 2015, readers will have to subscribe in order to get full access to Barron’s Asia, along with the U.S. edition.

Kopin Tan has been named editor of Barron’s Asia, which will be digital.

He has written the “Streetwise” column, offering a forward-looking take on the financial markets, illuminating market trends and identifying investment opportunities.  He also writes a variety of cover stories and feature articles for Barron’s.

Before this, Kopin wrote “The Trader” column, covering the U.S. stock market for several years.  He has also covered Asia and the options markets for Barron’s. He is a former attorney.

Tracy Young has been named publisher of Barron’s Asia. Previously, she served as the global director of digital advertising, where she helped expand Barron’s into mobile, tablet, and video platforms.

Talking Biz News broke the news about the Asian edition back in May but did not have the launch date.

Barron’s started in 1921. Dow Jones expanded its sister publication, The Wall Street Journal, to Asia in 1976 and to Europe in 1983. The Journal now also operates a Chinese-language website.
