Bob Tedeschi of the New York Times writes Thursday about the different business news apps that Wall Street traders, analysts and investors use.
Tedeschi writes, “The Bloomberg iPhone app is well designed and easy to use, and it capitalizes on Bloomberg’s core strengths as a business news service. Broader industry and geopolitical stories are covered in the News section, and in the My Stocks section, the app drills deeply on topics that might affect a user’s chosen companies.
“In news related to Apple last week, for instance, Bloomberg included an article about China cutting its rare earth export quota, raising concerns of a trade dispute with the United States. The article didn’t mention Apple, but given the company’s recent emphasis on the Chinese market, the app knew it was relevant.
“The stock chart feature is another winner. The 52-week chart appears on the stock’s summary page in a thumbnail format beneath the quote. Tap the chart and the app says to rotate the device to see it in full-screen mode.”
