Associated Press business editor Lisa Gibbs sent out the following announcement:
I am happy to announce that Amir Bibawy will be our new team leader for Breaking News and Digital Strategy. He will run the spot desk from NYC and help us drive ahead on optimizing our coverage for an audience that increasingly gets most news on smart phones and through social media.
Amir joins us from the Nerve Center, where he has been a producer for nearly four years. Before that, he spent three years at Reuters as a video producer, creating daily shows and global news specials. He’s also worked for six years as an editor, broadcaster and reporter for Radio Sawa in Washington DC, supervising writers across the Middle East and Europe. This experience will be really valuable to the alternative storytelling initiatives we’ve already got underway.
We are working with the Nerve Center on an official start date.
Amir has a master’s in business and economics journalism from Columbia University and a master’s in international relations from the London School of Economics.
Welcome, Amir!!
