ACBJ chairman Ray Shaw has died

TALKING BIZ NEWS EXCLUSIVE

Whitney Shaw and Kirk Shaw, the sons of American City Business Journals chairman Ray Shaw, sent out the following message to the company’s employees today:

“We come to you today with hearts filled with both sadness and gratitude.  Our father, Ray Shaw, died early this morning from complications following a bee sting.Â

“While we are indeed saddened by his death, we now cherish the time we had together and appreciate the lessons about life, family and business that will continue in all those he touched. Â

“There is no question that the 20 years he spent building American City was the most satisfying time in his professional life.  He loved what he was doing because of the people he was doing it with – you and others like you who made his life richer.

“We’ll let you know as arrangements and other details are finalized.Â

“Thanks, in advance, for your thoughts and prayers.”

In late April, Shaw received the Distinguished Achievement Award from the Society of American Business Editors and Writers. The award singles out individuals who have made a significant impact on the field of business journalism and who have served as a nurturing influence on others in the profession.
