Jeff Drew of the Triangle Business Journal, one of the papers owned by American City Business Journals, has written an obituary about Ray Shaw, the company’s chairman who died Sunday morning.
“Shaw served 10 years in that role, tripling Dow Jones’ revenue, to $1.7 billion, before retiring in 1989, the year he bought control of American City Business Journals.
“He sold ACBJ in 1995 to Advance Publications but remained chairman of ACBJ, and he remained clearly the company’s leader until his death.
“There was no immediate word on who succeed Shaw. Whitney Shaw serves as executive vice president of ACBJ, while Kirk Shaw is vice president and chief financial officer.”

My condolences to Mr. Shaw's family and to his colleagues at ACBJ. He graced us with his presence at the SABEW conference in Denver. What an amazing career. Inspirational. Very generous.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the Shaw family and all of ACBJ. I know this is a huge loss for all.
