Wall Street Journal reporter Sean McLain sent out the following to his colleagues on Thursday:

After 13 years at the Journal, I’m leaving for another job and a big career change. My last day is Friday.

I’m keeping my number, so reach out any time. My personal email is seanmclain@gmail.com if you want to stay in touch.

The list of people I need to thank for the stellar run I had in the world’s best newsroom is far too long to list in full. But I wouldn’t be the reporter I became, were it not for the patient guidance of people like Paul Beckett, Tom Wright, Gordon Fairclough, Peter Landers, Christina Rogers, Jamie Heller, Sarah Krouse and Kate Linebaugh.

My reporting partner, Nick Kostov, helped me accomplish some of the best bit of journalism I’ve ever done. We also published a pretty damn good book.

This place is a rare and precious mix of world-class talent and camaraderie, and I’ll miss it. I doubt I’ll ever work with such a critical mass of smart people ever again.

Thanks again, and I’ll be signing up for a subscription as soon as they cut me off.
