How a real estate news service is reimagining intself

Christiana Sciaudone of A Media Operator looks at the transformation underway at real estate news service Inman News.

Sciaudone writes, “Inman is following a path other B2B media companies have taken in recent years as they seek to become indispensable workflow tools rather than destinations for news alone. Companies including Arizent, which is investing in role-based intelligence products, and Skift, which has expanded its intelligence business, are all betting that proprietary data and community will prove more valuable than content alone.

“Bohn calls the new model ‘a for‑profit association without all the baggage and bureaucracy,’ one that uses news as the entry point into tools, training and community rather than an end in itself.

“‘We’re moving into essentially the Bloomberg of residential real estate, with a large emphasis on community and a community gathering place, online and live,’ Bohn said. ‘So now, how do I use the news to go from being a commodity to a community?’

“The community is already showing signs of taking hold. Just two days after launching the platform for Inman Connect San Diego 2026, which begins today, it had attracted 4,820 members, generated 214 discussions and more than 1,360 posts. The event expects more than 3,000 attendees, and one of the busiest conversations wasn’t about the housing market at all—it was agents comparing outfits for the week, a reminder of an industry where personal branding and social media are central to the business.”
