News Corp., the parent of The Wall Street Journal, Barron’s and MarketWatch.com, announced Wednesday a multi-year agreement to bring news content to OpenAI.

OpenAI has permission to display content from News Corp publications in response to user questions and to enhance its products.

In addition to providing content, News Corp. will share journalistic expertise to help ensure the highest journalism standards are present across OpenAI’s offering.

“We believe an historic agreement will set new standards for veracity, for virtue and for value in the digital age,” said News Corp. CEO Robert Thomson in a statement.

A Journal story says the deal could be worth “more than $250 million over five years, including compensation in the form of cash and credits for use of OpenAI technology.”
