WSJ names Modak its lifestyle editor

Sebastian Modak has been named lifestyle editor at The Wall Street Journal.

Modak has been travel editor at The Journal’s Off Duty lifestyle section.

Prior to joining the Journal in 2023, Modak was the editor-at-large at Lonely Planet. In 2019, he was selected to be the New York Times 52 places traveler and spent the year reporting from all the places on the Times’ “52 Places to Go” list.

As a writer and photographer, his work has also appeared in the Washington Post, National Geographic, BBC Travel, Departures, AFAR and Condé Nast Traveler, where he spent three years on staff as an editor.
