The New York Financial Writers’ Association annual Financial Follies will take place on Nov. 20, 2026 at the Edison Ballroom in the heart of Manhattan.

The Financial Follies will honor Rebecca Blumenstein, NBC News president of editorial. Blumenstein, who has played a major role in shaping financial coverage at the Wall Street Journal, New York Times and NBC News, has been named the latest recipient of the prestigious Elliott V. Bell Award.

Presentations at the Financial Follies will include this year’s Impact Award for Distinguished Financial Journalism. The 2025 winners were Casey Ross and Bob Herman from STAT News, for their four-part series investigating the use of AI in health care called “Denied by AI.”

Several journalism students from local universities also will receive 2026 NYFWA scholarship awards, which are funded through proceeds from the Follies gala.

The scholarship program has provided hundreds of thousands of dollars in aid over the years to outstanding students at institutions such as Baruch College, Columbia University, New York University and the City University of New York (CUNY).

The Financial Follies, which began in 1938, brings together hundreds of journalists, public relations executives and other members of the financial community in midtown Manhattan for a night of cocktails, dinner and entertainment, including humorous skit videos featuring prominent financial writers in the city.

NYFWA is the oldest organization of its kind devoted to advancing business and financial journalism.
