Wired editorial director Kate Drummond sent out the following on Thursday:

Hi All –

Please join me in congratulating several of your colleagues on their well-earned promotions.

Andrew Couts is now WIRED’s senior editor for security & investigations: In this newly created role, Andrew will still run our world-class security coverage and report to Tim Marchman. He’ll also expand his remit across our news desks, working with WIRED editors to run investigative projects, and partnering with external news organizations on the kinds of ambitious endeavors he’s proven so stellar at executing for WIRED.

Oliver Hazelwood is now WIRED’s design director: Olly will work to ensure WIRED’s award-winning design standards continue to break new ground across WIRED.com, social platforms, in print, and beyond. He will act as the lead Art Director for WIRED’s Features, both in print and online, and will work with Alyssa and team to propel our long-form storytelling capabilities using flourish and other external tools. Olly will also continue to oversee the UK print publication and Gear design.

Efrat Kashai is now WIRED’s Director of Content Production: In this newly elevated role, Efrat will work in lockstep with Branden Smith to supervise the production and execution of our YouTube video slate, bringing her exceptional creativity and logistical expertise to keep the video engine running. She’ll collaborate closely with our producers and directors to find innovative ways to keep our videos on track.

I’m also thrilled that Amanda HooverDhruv MehrotraReece RogersJacqui VanLiew, and Cameron Getty are all taking a (well-deserved) level up in seniority within the news, design, and photo teams, respectively.

Please give them all a virtual round of applause, and celebrate them in-person when you see them!

Best,
Katie
