Vincent departing The Verge after eight years

James Vincent

The Verge senior reporter James Vincent is leaving the tech news site after nine years.

Vincent has been covering artificial intelligence and machine learning.

He previously was the online science and tech editor for The Independent. He has also written for the London Review of Books, Financial Times, and Wired. His book, “Beyond Measure: The Hidden History of Measurement from Cubits to Quantum Constants,” was named one of the best books of the year by The Economist and The New Yorker.

Vincent is a graduate of the University of Cambridge.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
