The Information has hired Dakin Campbell to cover the money behind artificial intelligence.
He is interested in how banks, funds, and pensions are funneling capital into the chips and projects powering AI and who ends up holding the risk when deals go wrong.
He was Business Insider’s chief finance correspondent, writing features and conducting investigations into Wall Street’s largest and most powerful firms. He has written extensively about Goldman Sachs and the challenges its CEO has faced in his first few years on the job.
Campbell joined Business Insider in April 2018 from Bloomberg News, where he spent a decade writing for its wire service and magazines. Campbell has also covered municipal finance for The Bond Buyer newspaper, and at the dawn of his career, wrote general assignment stories as an assistant editor at The Freeman’s Journal in Cooperstown, New York.
He’s a graduate of Cornell University and Columbia University.
