The Economist said Wednesday it is launching a low-tier subscription that is being piloted in four countries.

The Economist Play will be available as a regional pilot in Canada, Denmark, Norway and Sweden. The cost is $15 a month, or about $10 less than a full premium subscription

The subscription includes games, podcasts, daily audio briefings and short-form videos, and subscriber-only newsletters.

“With the launch of Insider last October, and now this pilot market launch of The Economist Play, we’re continuing to lift the curtain on our journalists, their world-class analysis, and the spirited debates we have on key global issues,” said Luke Bradley-Jones, president of The Economist, in a statement.

Existing Economist Podcasts+ subscribers in pilot markets will be upgraded to The Economist Play with no change in price.

The Economist has nearly 1.3 million subscribers.
