Tom Lowry, editor in chief of Skift, a website focused on the business of travel, has left the news organization after five years.

Lowry had also been managing editor.

“Our far-ranging work — from elevating breaking news and deep dives, to hiring a truly diverse global team of editors, reporters and interns, to launching new newsletters, podcasts, events, and integrating three killer acquisitions — is what will stand out as highlights for me as EIC,” wrote Lowry on LinkedIn.

Lowry was former senior editor of CNBC.com before leaving in 2017. He joined CNBC in April 2013 to build an enterprise news desk.

He previously was business editor of The Daily, senior editor at Variety and media editor at BusinessWeek. He also worked at USA Today and the New York Daily News.
